Back in the day we made tapes. Nothing was digital except Astroids & Space Invaders. My tape of choice to record on was a Maxell 90 minute cassette. You could always rock the first 45 minutes of your mix one day. Then flip the tape and finish it up on another day. I kept one master copy,and ran off duplicates on a daily basis. Sold them to the video stores to play when people were renting movies. Gave them to all my friends that had cars. Traded them with other Dj friends. It wasn't so bad being a bedroom dj back then. Your tapes would start to float around, and you would start to get a following. But the followers always wanted a new mix every month. So If they wanted the mixes they had to supply the Maxell's The mixes were raw,music over music,long blends and sometimes the recordings were to loud.Back then it was all about the feeling!!! I always tried to make the mixes straight with out starting over. NO DUE OVERS when you're playing in a club. This mix was recorded in my bedroom in Brooklyn in 1992. JC.
